We are currently carrying out Training Digs in Wentwood Forest and at Moss Cottage, a mysterious ruin at a local farm. Moss Cottage Excavations have so far explored the interior of the main room of the cottage, and located a possible entrance. Work is also being carried out to explore the exterior of the building. The structure is unusual in that it appears to have had a stone barrel roof. There is a fire place with an alcove to either side surviving in the one remaining wall. Our team are in the process of drawing the existing building, and recording it photographically, using a digital camera. Members are also researching the history of the site in the County Record Office.

There is plenty of scope for members of all interests to participate in this project. Please contact Felicity or Ian for further information.

Dates are currently being finalised.
